Girl’s Group 4/24: Last Girl’s Group of the Year :(

On April 24th, Girls Group celebrated the end to a great semester and year.

Elizabeth ordered pizza for everyone, and we enjoyed salad- it was a perfect meal with a little bit of health and then a slice of pizza on top of everything :)

Then, we had a pinata and a minata…we took turns hitting the pinata just like the good old days! Everyone got a turn! Sarah got a minata, a mini pinata..it made us laugh and both were filled with yummy candy! Who doesn’t need candy during finals time?

We had a lot of fun celebrating together, but there was a little bit of sadness in the air. Two of our beloved Girl’s Group members- Cammie and Ashley, are leaving after this semester. We all will miss them, and hope them the best in all of their future endeavors.

Here’s some pictures from the event, and until next time!

Girl’s Group 4/17: GIRL’S GROUP GARDEN PARTY!

On April 17th, it was the biggest Girl’s Group of the year- the Garden Party!

Started last year, we had so much fun that we decided to make this an annual tradition. We all wore our spring best, enjoyed delicious gourmet food by Alison, a delicious cake from Sarah, desserts from Rachel and Amy, and games!

We raffled out seeds and candy, and then played a guessing game outside!

We had so much fun enjoying the beautiful weather outside and each other’s company. It was a week before final’s week, so the finals stress hadn’t set in yet and we were just there to have a great time and we did! Ashley brought her nice camera and got to take nice pictures of everyone!

After eating so much good food, laughing from a good time…it was time to clean up and head back to work. But, it was decided that this was certainly something girl’s group would do again and again!!

Girl’s Group 4/10: Luminaries- Reflecting our own light!

On April 10th, Girl’s Group prepared for the coming Garden Party by making luminaries!

Abbey and Kim made us tacos for dinner- they were delicious! And very appreciated on the beautiful spring day!

Then, Sarah led us in a spring craft- we cut up magazines, used glue, and decorated mini candles to use for our girls’ group garden party! It was lots of fun, and an awesome way to express ourselves creatively which we don’t get to do a lot at college.

We all expressed our highs and lows and worked hard at our craft- with a focus that is usually only reserved for school work :) It was a lot of fun!

Here’s some pictures of the fun time we had :

Girl’s Group 4/3: Life!

On April 3rd, Girl’s Group appreciated god’s creation!

Rachel made us a delicious dinner from the leftovers in the CCC kitchen- including hot dogs, chicken nuggets, lasanga, salad! It was a free for all, and all very delicious :)

Then Ashley brought her copy of LIFE- a nature documentary. From a vote, we watched the ‘predators and prey’ editions of the documentary. We had so much fun learning about animals we had never even known existed. It was a bit surprising that Girls Group wanted to watch the PREDATORS AND PREY chapter, but hey! God created them all!

It was a great chill Girl’s Group…and talk began of the Girl’s Group Garden Party every spring semester. This is the biggest girl’s group of the year! We already can’t wait :)

Girl’s Group 3/27: Sweet Frog Date!

On March 27th, girl’s group took over Sweet Frog, a yummy frozen yogurt place near campus!

Wen made ramen for dinner…but this was not just any old ramen, but a ramen bar with bean sprouts, chives, sauces, etc.! It made this ‘college’ meal something special and delicious!

After the usual highs and lows, we walked together to Sweet Frog! It had just opened and was already crowded! We all had fun choosing flavors and toppings- and comparing with others! It was so delicious and it was quickly decided this would be some place we would go again.

Afterwards some of us also went to Blackstone for some coffee! CCC is all about the caffeine :)

Here’s a great group picture of the event:

Girl’s Group 3/20: Turning Back the Time Tuesday!

On March 20th, Girl’s Group turned back the time and have fun while doing it!

Emily and Amy made us a meal that we all enjoyed as children- chicken nuggets and tater tots! During Highs and Lows, we thought about the things we enjoyed most doing as children…as it is a busy time of the semester for many, we all missed having coloring as our homework!

SO, we colored!

We printed out lots of coloring pages- princess ones, bible ones, Hello Kitty ones, animal ones, Harry Potter ones, and more! We enjoyed coloring the pages! This time we all colored inside the lines :)

It was a great de-stressing girl’s group and a time to forget about papers and tests!

Girl’s Group 3/13: Welcome Back Riverside BBQ!

On March 13th, Girl’s Group met for the first time since spring break! We all missed each other very much and wanted to celebrate the beautiful weather and do something special- so we had a picnic near the Rappahanock River, a small drive from campus!

Trevor, from Guy’s Group, was a guest chef this week and made us delicious hamburgers and hot dogs! Then we took everything and headed down to the river! We had a great time eating summery food, people watching, and doing highs and lows…then we played some Outburst and reflected on our spring breaks!

The day was almost perfect until we were kicked out of the park by a park ranger…none of us knew that the park closed after 7! It made us laugh, and we all rushed to pack up the cars and head back to campus before they closed the gates!

Girl’s Group 2/28: MAFIA!

On February 28th, we enjoyed some delicious food and played a CCC favorite, Mafia!

Briana, a freshman, made us a delicious meatloaf, potatoes, and veggies! The food reminded us of food back home and it was a great break from the every day routine of campus food. Everyone’s highs and lows seemed to have a theme of midterms stress, but we all got together to take a break from school and enjoy each other’s company!

Then, Katie narrated a couple games of Mafia for us! Mafia is a fun strategy game that made us all laugh and also made us think a lot. Katie, an english major, had really creative stories to tell us which made it fun too! Mafia is a CCC tradition on retreats and we wanted to play it!!

Girl’s Group 2/21: Mardi Gras and Bob Talk!

On February 21st, we celebrated Mari Gras and Bob came to talk to us!

Amy, Maggie, and Lauren made lots of yummy pancakes for us to eat celebrating Mardi Gras! We all had fun talking about the holiday and our usual highs and lows. The semester is finally kicking it into high gear for many but we had a good group!

Then, Bob came to answer questions about love and friendship. It is only a week after Valentine’s Day so many ladies had questions! Bob has an infinite amount of knowledge about this topic and it showed! We all left much more knowledgeable about the relationships in our lives!

Girl’s Group 2/14: Valentine’s Day Party!

On February 14th, everyone in Girl’s Group had a Valentine’s Day date- each other!

We had a lovely Valentine’s Day party with each other! Sarah made us a delicious and healthy meal, and then we exchanged gifts from our Secret Valentines and enjoyed each other’s company! We had fun talking about our highs and lows, the girls group regulars, and classes!

The total consensus, whether we were in a relationship or not…we were glad we all had each other to be with each other on Valentine’s Day!

Here are some pictures from the fun event:
